Adam Mahoney Obituary

March 20, 1932 - July 17, 2011
WALKERTON - Adam Mahoney, 79, passed away surrounded by his family at 10:38 PM on Sunday, July 17, 2011. Adam was born on March 20, 1932, in Marion, IN, to the late Marion Ross Mahoney and Joe Mahoney. Adam is survived by two sons, David Eugene Mahoney of Osceola, IN, and Robert Adam Mahoney (Carol) of Walkerton, IN; daughter, Marion Vogl (Jeffrey) of South Bend, IN; seven grandchildren, Chris, D.J., Amber, Nathan, Caleb, Christopher and Mary; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Jane Enders of South Bend, IN, and Karen Evans of Ohio; brother, John Morgan Mahoney (Judy) of Mishawaka, IN; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Mahoney of Osceola, IN. One brother, David Mahoney, preceded him in death. Stationed in Germany in 1954 he proudly served in the United States Army. He took great pride in his Scottish, Welsh, Irish and Cherokee Indian heritage. He retired from Scot Lad Foods, and enjoyed 20 years of retirement traveling the entire United States, Canada and Europe. He was a talented craftsman and carpenter. Adam had lived for the past several years with his son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Carol, who were wonderful and loving during his extended illness. Adam's family would like to thank Dr. John Larson and staff, and the staff at Hamilton Grove, New Carlisle, for their care during his brief stay. At Adam's request, a private family graveside service will follow cremation at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, is assisting the family with arrangements. Contributions in memory of Adam Mahoney may be made to COPD Foundation, 2937 SW 27th Ave., Suite 302, Miami, FL 33133. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.

David, Bobby and Marion....we want to express our deepest sympathies...we know what you are going through....focus on the warm memories you have and remember them, and let them buoy you up.
I will always remember the times we had as kids...
the treat of seeing the Heathkit Ham Radio gear he was so proud of and had built himself...and the cards from the people your dad had contacted all around the world.
