Margaret Eloise Finley Maynard

Margaret Eloise Finley Maynard, 76, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Chattaroy, went home to be with the Lord on November 3, 2013. She was at home where she was surrounded by the love of her family. Born May 23, 1937, at Chattaroy, she was the daughter of the late Julius "Arthur" Finley and Tessie Marie Justice Finley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Bruce Maynard; and a brother, Arthur Lee Finley. Margaret graduated from Chattaroy High School and soon married the love of her life, Bruce Maynard. Margaret was trained as a pre-school teacher and worked with pre-school aged children during the late 60's and the early 70's. She was also very busy during these years raising her own children, two boys and five girls. While she was very busy with the children, keeping her home, and teaching, she found time to devote to her relationship with God and to the Chattaroy Church of God where she was a devoted member and the church pianist for more than 50 years. She served as the director for numerous musical events at the church and she was also a member of the ladies auxiliary. Margaret played the piano and sang with her children at numerous weddings, funerals and gospel singing conventions in the tri-state area for a number of years. She also taught piano lessons. Margaret and Bruce moved to Charlotte in 1995, where they enjoyed retirement and hosting all the family and friends who visited. Margaret enjoyed getting news updates from her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed family reunions and time spent visiting the beach. Margaret's legacy is that of love, devotion to her family and friends and the joy that music brought to her throughout her lifetime. Margaret's love of music lives on in her children and grandchildren. She was an exemplary wife, mother and grandmother. While Margaret will be sorely missed, she will be lovingly remember for all the amazing gifts she gave to those who knew her and shared her life. Margaret is survived by seven wonderful children, Cynthia Maynard of Charleston, Vanessa Maynard Johnson of Fort Mill, SC, Greg (Kay) Maynard of Delbarton, Dianne (Kurt) Xu of San Juan Capistrano, CA, David Lee (Jeanne) Maynard of Canada, KY, Tammi (Ron) Gilman of Delbarton and Veronica Maynard of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Margie, Shayne and Michael Crum, Brandon Maynard, Daniel Michael Johnson, Holly Maynard, Keyanna, Michaela and Caleigha Xu, Kari June Maynard Blackburn, Kyle David Maynard, Katie Maynard, Jeremy and Courtney Gilman, Caleb and Cayleigh Maynard; great-grandchildren, Christian and Christin Crum and Dylan Crum, Lukas and Jackson Blackburn; three brothers, William Finley of Chattaroy, Ron Finley of Naugatuck, and Robby Finley of Chattaroy; and a sister, Nora Wellman of Georgia.
