HELEN VIARS
MALLORY — Helen Mae Viars, 65, of Mallory, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wed., Aug. 26, 2015, leaving from her home after a lingering illness.
Born May 15, 1950, at Logan, she was a daughter of Rev. John T. and Betty Jo Brown Vance of Holden.
Preceding her in death were her husband, James Theodore Viars; one sister, Jewell Faye Vance; her sister-in-law, Molly Sheppherd; and her mother-in-law, Beulah Shirley.
Helen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a born again Christian and a member of the 21 Holden Memorial Freewill Baptist Church. She loved to baby sit and enjoyed raising flowers.
Those left to cherish her memory, in addition to her parents, include one son, Rev. John T. (Laura) Viars of Mallory; one sister, Betty June Meade of Richmond, Va.; one brother, Tennis R. (Sue) Vance of Lake; two grandchildren, Deborah L. (Anthony) Curry and Jewell Faye Viars, both of Mallory; two special helpers and friends, Joshua Porter and Trina Cook, both of Mallory; many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sat., Aug. 29, at 21 Holden Memorial Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Layton Lockhart and Rev. Lacy Cox Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Pallbearers will be William Paugh, James T. Vance, Ralph Vance, Joshua Porter, Nicholas Dotson, and Chester Horn.
