James Picanzo Obituary

James J. Picanzo Jr., 80 years, of Raynham, formerly of Brockton, died at Life Care Center of Raynham, July 30, 2010, following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Arlene B. Betty (Burr) Picanzo. Born in Madison, Maine, he was a son of the late James J. and Ida (Picchione) Picanzo. Jim was raised and educated in Brockton and had served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a framing contractor for many years in Brockton and retired as a commercial contractor in Boston. Jim was a former member of the Brockton Elks, an avid gardener, Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed cooking for his family on Sunday afternoons and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his five children, James J. Picanzo III and his wife Carolyn of Dartmouth, Rosemarie Maki of New Bedford, Michael R. Picanzo and his wife Cindy of Brockton, Linda A. Kavgic and her husband George of West Wareham and Christopher E. Picanzo and his fiance Kim Edwards of Brockton. He was the grandfather of 18, including the late Tommy Maki and great-grandfather of eight. Jim was the brother of Raphael Wood, Angelina Marrone and Robert Picanzo and the late John, Anthony, Joseph and Richard Picanzo. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Funeral service in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Tuesday, at 11 a.m. Burial in Coweeset Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, 4-8 p.m. Donations in Jims name may be made to the Parkinsons Disease Foundation, Inc., 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
