Jim was a valued and special friend. We met when I was a student at Salem State. We shared some epic road trips, but the best memory occurred on April 20, 1979. On that date, Jim married my wife, Patti, and me. We were fortunate to see him before he passed. I still think of him often.

This morning I was lying in bed waking up and was listening to music on my phone. Mostly songs from the 60's - 70's, Tom Rush, Judy Collins, Joni Mitchell, etc. Suddenly a version of Both Sides Now came on by Joni Mitchell. It is a beautiful version and one I'd never heard before. This strong always evokes fond memories of Jim Power for me as the Judy Collins version was practically the theme song for the Sunday Night Mass group that gathered on the 4th floor of the Salem State library each week. I hit the replay button several times and relished in thoughts of Jim. And then... an email popped up that there had been a posting at this site and I read the new message from Neil Rice another SSC grad. It literally arrived as I was listening to the song. If ever there was a sign of Jim saying hello, this was it. Amazingly too this all happened on the day that my son Nick was in an accident (he died on July 2 - fifteen years ago) and on this very morning I called Jim to ask for his help and he came to the UVM hospital and stayed for three days providing support to so many. It was also the day he had been fully reinstated by the Cardinal. So Jim had many reasons to send us all a message today, he is indeed seeing life from Both Sides Now and is still helping us out periodically. God bless you Jim Power.

Rest In Peace (again), Fr Jim. I wish I had connected with you at SSC in 1971-73. I could have used your worldly guidance.

I think about Jim frequently. I find myself using some of his favorite lines including; You're a hot ticket! You're way ahead of me. Peace brother. We've not been here before. Jim helped me recognize when I was in a conversation that was asking more of me as a person.
