Nancy, I just learned of your mom's passing. I am so sorry. Although I don't believe I ever met her, I've certaily heard many stories about her and your dad. I know you will miss her deeply. My mom has been gone 13 years already and there are so many times I wish I could pick up the phone or get in the car and go talk to her. Mike and I will keep you and your dad in our thoughts and prayers. Blessings to you and your whole family. Mike and Emma

In 1943 Joy and I started high school at what was then called, Shasta Union High School. We had common interests, sewing and many others, not just boys.
We married the "loves of our life"!
We were pregnant together, I with Tim, now deceased, Joy with Nancy. Proud mothers were we! Beautiful babies, more to follow. Still proud.
Many years passed; I was teaching at Sequoia, then called Jr. High. It was my pleasure to have as students, her three grandchildren, Terry (AKA Moose) Heath and Jennifer.
Perhaps 20 or more years ago Nancy and Jim Matheson invited me to a festive function at their lovely home above Shingletown, a short distance from our cabin. Joy, still a beauty, Wayne, her mother, Gladys Peterson, Wayne's mother, Bea Wiechers, Jim's Mother and the group of family portrayed a loving caring family. It was a beautiful day!
Joy & I wrote and talked on the phone through the next years, always pride in her family. She called or wrote often after the death of my husband Gene, Nov. 2010. A caring lady.
May you all honor her with grace and love. It will be very difficult, but you will be strong.
Think of how her name, "Joy", was perfect for her.

Nancy, I am so very sorry to hear about your mom. You always talked about how your mom and dad had been married for a really long time. You are in my prayers along with your entire family. I will pray for your dad asking God to stay near to him during this very, very sad time. If there is anything you need, please call me. I will help with whatever you need. May God bless and keep you, and give you peace. Love, Suzanne

Rutter family, I am so sorry for your loss. This sure brought back memories of the Oregon Trail Riders. I still look off to the left every time I head up I-5 and remember your house. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Love how she always seemed to find time to send me letters, keeping me updated on everything, and talked about everyone as if I actually had a clue who they are.
