Beverly Bass Obituary

BASS, Beverly Jane (Cole)
1935-2011

Bev, as she preferred to be called, attended Rogers High School where she sang in the choir, twirled baton and performed as a majorette. She met Howard Bass while skating at Dishman's roller skating rink. Their first date took place at Hillyard Baptist Church where Bev was a member at the time. Howard, an airman stationed at Fairchild AFB, wasn't met with overwhelming family approval. However, after 14 months of courting she agreed to an elopement and 58 plus years of romance began with their union in Coeur d'Alene, ID. She loved children and had two sons and three daughters: Howard A. Bass (deceased), Danny Bass, Carol (Bass) Hanna, Kathy (Bass) Warren and Mindy (Bass) Cass. Bev's kids gave her a total of 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Each and every one was special in Grandma's eyes. Her love came from the Lord whom she served as a member of Trinity Baptist church from 1967 until her joining him. Bev is survived by her soulmate, Howard; sisters: Fran Simantel and Shirley Wolf; brothers: Richard, William, Donald and Ronald Cole; and her children listed previously. A Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 12:30PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist Church or the Union Gospel Mission.

I just found out last night that i lost a piece of my heart as Bev began her journey in the heavens. She was an extraordinary woman who brought smiles to faces and gave such love. I will miss you dearly and thank you for all that you gave me as a young boy in helping me become a strong man. You will be deeply missed, but always in our thoughts.

Love,
Your little Jeffy

Grandma Bev, as I called her growing up was a very special woman, who loved her savior and loved her family. My Aunt Bev was very special and her memory will live on in the lives of family and friends who's lives she put a lasting stamp on! We love you and will miss you!

Mrs. Bass, as I always called her, was a wonderful neighbor and friend. We shared the same neighborhood (on Columbia) for years. Any time I was back in town to see my mom (Gloria), I would look to see if she was in her yard, so we could just get catch up. I remember a time that she and Mrs. Ruffcorn came over when they saw that I was visiting with my newborn son, with a gift of course! He is 31 years old now. She and Mr. Bass were great neighbors for my mom. (Thank you, by the way!) She enjoyed life, no matter what came her way, and was very proud of her family. My heart goes out to her family as they learn to live on without her.

Mama B was a dear, special lady who always made us feel like family. It is comforting to know she is with Jesus, enjoying His presence and breathing in the fragrance of Heaven. We will miss you and look forward to the day we will see you again.(Is there Farkle in Heaven?) Our love and prayers go out to all the family.

Love,
Terry, Connie and Tara
