George Funk Obituary

FUNK,
George Isaac

Spokane, WA

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 97, on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 6:39 p.m.
George was born in Thief River Falls, Minnesota on September 24, 1913, to Guy and Anne Funk. The Funk family later moved to St. John, North Dakota. George was 6 years old and Agnes 3 years old when they were introduced by their families.
George married his life long love, Agnes D. Dillon on September 4, 1937, in Rolla, North Dakota. George and Agnes celebrated their 73 years of marriage in 2010. George and Agnes had six children: Charlie Logan Funk, Donald Robert Funk, Gladys Marie Bateman, Margaret Edith Crofoot, Gloria Jean Hamilton and Gary George Funk. Also left behind are numerous grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews.
George and Agnes left North Dakota and moved to the Spokane area in 1942. George founded Funk's Electric in the 1960's.
George was a member of Fourth Memorial Church for years and took great joy in supporting Moody Bible Institute and local and foreign missionary efforts.
George was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother, Albert Logan Funk, his sister, Edith Gregg, his beloved daughter, Margaret Crofoot of Oakview, California and his eldest son Charlie Funk of Mojave, Arizona.

In celebration of George's life the family has planned the following:
- Sunday, April 10, 2011, public viewing from 1-4 pm at HAZEN AND
JAEGER FUNERAL HOME, 1306 N. MONROE, SPOKANE, WA
- Monday, April 11, 2011, private family burial
- Friday, April 15, 2011, memorial service at Fourth Memorial Church
at 2:00 p.m., 2000 N. Standard Street, Spokane, WA

We lived next door for 27 years and Mr Funk was a great neighbor and friend to both of my kids, Claudia and Jamie and myself. May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Funk Family in this time of sorrow.
