Mark was an amazing man full of life and a love for God. He was my older cousin and most of my memories were growing up with Mark in Crescent City. Mark liked fast cars and I remember one time he took my brother and I for a ride in his hot rod. It was raining and he turns onto a deserted street, floors the gas and sends us rocketing down the road for a couple 100 yards and then slams on the brakes, skillfully pulling a 180 slide and then heading full speed the other way....smiling the entire time! For a 6 year old this was pretty memorable! Anyway I will miss you Mark and look forward to meeting you again in Heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with Glenda, Alecia, and Brad.

I wanted to thank the family and friends of Mark that got together and poured their hearts out at his memorial. It’s a load off to participate in a send-off like that – I know his passing will create a void in a lot of lives, but for those of us that were there who knew Mark in passing with less presence and only a handful of significant memories, it’s good to know that April 7th was literally a man crossing the finish line with his hands in the air. Well run, Mark.
Hearing his children, friends, and co-workers speak of Mark left no doubt to his role as a mentor. His later moments revealed to us by his son were even an encouragement and exhortation to live with joy, even without him.
Who could doubt that Mark was a warrior? He battled men half his age on the basket-ball courts, and regardless of the outcome, he’d stand covered in sweat and smiling. The day before he passed, he was hard at work, not ready to call it – that’s a warrior.
More than the rest, we heard about Mark and his example of friendship – even to the point of him practically defining it – what stands out to me most was a particular comment, that I could actually picture the mannerisms and tone of voice, “don’t freak out, I have stage four cancer – but enough about me,” tell me all about yourself, let me be a friend to you – Mark was the kind of friend we all want to be, and all want to know.
Mark was a king. He served his kingdom, and too many related this: Mark’s kingdom was a place of peace and love – safety, security and sanctuary. He will be missed, of that I’m sure, but by none more so than his queen, his princess, his prince.
King, Warrior, Mentor, Friend. Man.
What a guy. See you on the other side, Mark.

Mark was a wonderful, friendly neighbor to all of us. He loved his wife and children so very much. We will miss seeing him at the mailbox and talking about the Lord. We'll miss seeing him embrace the outdoors and jogging in the sunshine. We will miss his happy, exuberant personality. We are thankful that he is with the Lord, free from pain and completely well. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Mark was a good friend, loving father and husband. I will miss Mark and the many fun times we had together. He was always kind to other people and an all around wonderful, compassoniate person. I feel relieved that Mark's pain is gone, and rejoice knowing he is with the Savior he loves. May the Lord bring comfort to Mark's family and friends.
