Walter Brooks Obituary

BROOKS,
Walter "Lee" Col. USAF

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, passed away on May 14th, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. Born May 11th, 1935, he was the second of four children. He was born to JB and Pearl Adams-Brooks in Commerce, Georgia. Lee went into the United States Air force at the age of 17 and after two tours as a pilot in Vietnam remained in the Air Force for several more years. He also worked for Boeing and Lockhead Martin as an airplane mechanic and engineer. He sold insurance in Bellevue, WA. He also raced cars for McBride Motors in Spokane, WA. On September 3rd, 1959 he married Joyce Richter. They raised four children, Danny Lane Brooks, Kenneth Eugene Brooks, Scott Forrest Brooks, Holly Elaine Brooks-Kunze all of Spokane, Washington. He was "Papa" to 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He had a love of planes and flying and learning. He was an avid reader and extremely intelligent. And as he would say, he didn't know everything about something, but knew something about everything. The greatest thing about Lee was his love of his family and his philosophy that family comes first. He told us every day a million times that he loved us. He was the most wonderful loving person and will be so greatly missed. Dad I hope you now have received all the answers to all the questions of the universe that we always talked about. We love you so very much! Public Service will be at Redeemer Lutheran Church 3606 S. Schafer Rd. Spokane Valley, WA. on Friday June 3rd 3:00-5:00p.m.
