Virginia ENGELHARDT Obituary

ENGELHARDT, Virginia Ann (Ottosen)

A wonderful wife, loving mother, sister and friend passed away on September 14, 2016. All of her family was at her side when passed into the hands of God. He will receive her when He is ready...and He did. Virginia was the second oldest in her family, born October 13, 1937 in Spokane, WA to Bert and Ruth Ottosen. She grew up in the Waverly area with her siblings: Robert Ottosen, Dixie (Ottosen) Heyworth, Chris Ottosen (d), Chuck Ottosen, James Ottosen (d), John Ottosen, Frank Ottosen, Mary Ann (Ottosen) Warner, Jerry Ottosen and Terri (Ottosen) Smith. She graduated from Latah High School in 1956. She married the love of her life George (Bud) Engelhardt on June 26, 1957. They were stationed at Fort Riley with the U.S. Army for three years. They then moved to Stevens County for several years and settling later in the Fairfield / Waverly area to raise their family. She was the mother of four children, Richard Engelhardt, Ronda (Engelhardt) Newman, and the twins Edward Engelhardt and Brenda Dee (Engelhardt) Galbreath. In 1986 they moved to Spokane where they lived for 23 years before retiring. George and Virginia were blessed in marriage for 59 years. Virginia was a devoted wife and mother. She worked at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Fairfield with her mother Ruth for many years. She loved to bake and always had fresh cookies in her cookie jar. She was the very best at rocking babies, comforting her family, and welcoming everyone into their home.
Virginia was survived by her husband Bud Engelhardt; and their children: Richard and Danielle Engelhardt, Ronda and Brad Newman, Edward and Cyndee Engelhardt, Brenda Dee and Greg Galbreath; eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; her siblings previously listed; nieces, nephews, relatives and many loving friends. A Celebration of Virginia's life will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016, at 2:00pm, at the Cedonia Community Church. In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to the Cedonia Community Church 4562 Hwy 25 South Hunters, WA 99137. The Lord God has blessed us with this beautiful woman. Let us think of her each time we see the sight of footprints in the sand, as this was her favorite.
