News Death Notice

STEPHENS, Phyllis O. age 69, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on April 23, 2011. She was born in Springfield, Ohio on May 4, 1941, daughter of Lucille Carter and Herbert Williams. Phyllis was a member of Restored Life Ministries and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 125. She was also a volunteer throughout the community working on many projects. She was an avid vegetable and flower gardener and enjoyed landscaping. She leaves behind a special pet "JR" who has been a faithful companion. Phyllis is survived by her devoted and loving daughter Stephanie Green-Tunstall, two sons Thomas (Angela) Stephens, Tony Channels (Reba) (both of Columbus, Ohio, five brothers William (Carol) Channels (Venice, California), Roger Channels, Lawrence Carter, Jr. Michael Carter (Hopkinsville, Kentucky), Jeff Carter (Ft. Belvoir, Virginia), and three sisters Annette (Bruce) Evans, Lenore Carter (Truman), and Gretta Carter. She also leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Stephanie Green-Tunstall (Kelvin), sons, Thomas (Angela) Stephens, II, Tony Channels (Reba), brothers, William (Carol) Channels, Roger Channels, Michael Carter, Lawrence Carter, Jeff Carter, sisters, Annette (Bruce) Evans, Lenore (Truman) Carter, and Gretta Carter, grand daughters Renata Green, Ashley Tunstall, Toni Lee Channels and grand son Christopher Channels along with step-children Elder Dale (Patty) Stephens, Rev. Terry (Theresa) Stephens, Morris Stephens, Elder Jackie Sims, Rev. Monica (Bishop Ronald) Logan, Etta Turner, Teresa (Rev. Garfield) Parker, step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and brother and sister-in-laws and "Special Buddy" Kelvin Henry. Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, husband, special friend, and step-son. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 28, 2011, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Greater Grace Temple with words of comfort by Thomas H. Stephens to begin at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be Friday April 29, 2011at 9:00am at Ferncliff Cemetery. Arrangements are provided by Porter-Qualls Funeral Home, Inc.
