Springstead, George J.
Age 74, of Elmira Heights, NY, passed away at home on Saturday, December 31, 2016. He was born in Wellsburg, NY on January 29, 1942 to the late Perry and Florence (Cooper) Springstead. He was predeceased by his step-son, Clifford Davis. George is survived by his wife of 46 years, Juanita (Stamp) Springstead of Elmira Heights; step-son, Gary (Annie Houser) Davis of Millerton, PA; brothers, Perry Springstead of Horseheads, Edward (Mary) Springstead of Lowman, Calvin (Beverly) Springstead of Horseheads and Wayne Springstead of Elmira; sisters, Charlotte (Jake) Eiffert of Breesport and Annette (Frank) Garrison of Horseheads; daughter-in-law, Sheri Davis of SC; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. George was a veteran of the US Army and he retired from the City of Elmira after many years of service. He was a past royal patron of Queen Fredericka Court of Amaranth #22 in Elmira and a past member of the Masons. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, January 5th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow there at 7 p.m. with Rev. David Preisendanz officiating. Interment will take place on Friday, January 6th at 11 a.m. in Maple Grove Cemetery with full military honors.
