Dominick Mauro Obituary

Dominick N. Mauro, 89, of Manchester, N.J., died Jan. 24, 2013, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, N.J. Visiting will be held on Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen, N.J. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. John's Church, Dunellen. Interment will be in Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, N.J. Dominick was born in Newark, N.J. and had lived in Scotch Plains, N.J., before moving to Manchester six years ago. He was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Rocco and Joan. After earning a business degree at Rutgers, he worked as a supervisor in the accounting division of General Motors in Linden, N.J., for 36 years before his retirement in 1987. As a veteran of World War II, he earned the Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal in Japan. He also had enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards. Surviving are his wife, Delores; two sons, Glen and Gary, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; two daughters, Pamela Ambrose and husband, Jerry, of New Market, Md.; Gail Woerner and husband, Jeff, of Dunellen, N.J.; two sisters, Louise Calabrese of Knoxville, Tenn., and Angela Serritelli of Manchester, N.J.; a brother, Carmine Jr., of Edison, N.J.; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth of Manchester; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Woerner and wife, Kimberly; Jason S. and Amanda E. Woerner; Alexander J. Ambrose, and several nieces and nephews. Donations in his name would be appreciated to If I Only Had A Brain Foundation, www.facebook.com or a charity of your choice.

Dad , you were a friend to everyone you met. A wonderful role model , husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin, friend. You touched many lives and always had a smile a joke and a kind word. You are my hero. I love you more than I can ever expresss. Thank you for all of the gifts you shared. I was blessed to have know Dom thru my association with Lindeman Buick. My dealings with Dom were always a pleasure and he was always there to help me when I needed his assistance. I will miss hearing his voice and seeing his smile, may we meet again one day. God Bless

Domnick was a truly special guy that I will remember fondly.
