Noland Randolph Mattocks Jr.

NOLAND RANDOLPH MATTOCKS, JR. Noland Randolph (Randy) Mattocks, Jr. of Bermuda Run, NC passed away on February 8, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. Randy was born in Statesville, NC to the late Noland Randolph and Delia Mattocks on April 21, 1944. He graduated from Wallace-Rose Hill High School, Wake Forest University and Wake Forest School of Law (1969). Randy is survived by his loving wife, Mary Brown Mattocks; his children Emily Grey Mattocks (Kristen) of Atlanta, GA, Noland Randolph Mattocks, III of Sarasota, FL; his step-daughter Jessica Brown Ezzell of Cary; his cherished grandchildren Harris Gray, Nash and Deacon; his siblings Elizabeth Teachey of Wilmington, Catherine Liner of Winston-Salem, George Mattocks (Debbie) of Winston-Salem; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. After serving his country in the US Army, Randy worked for Deloitte Haskins & Sells (Touche) and Integon before he went into the private practice of Accounting and Law. Randy was a quiet and gentle soul who loved deeply and spent the majority of his life taking care of others. Many of his clients became beloved friends with friendships lasting over decades and through several family generations. He was a founding member of the Inklings, a group of friends who became his "brothers at heart". Randy was a brilliant, caring man that both his family and friends looked to for guidance in many areas far exceeding his expertise in accounting and law. He will be missed by many who will always treasure the special place that he holds in their hearts. A celebration of Randy's life will be held at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home, 108 East Kinderton Way in Advance, NC at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 11, 2017. Visitation will follow the service.
