Shirley was my cousin and I wish to express my condolences to Aunt Caroline and all of the family. I remember as a little girl visiting Shirley many times in the Convent and always remembered she was a very special lady. Love to you all.

Shirley was a teacher who encouraged any creativity I might have had. She was one of the reasons I chose teaching for my career. She was a dear friend.

I'm thankful that my memories can include a time several years ago spent with Shirley and Gene in Silver Bay. It was a delightful visit and I couldn't help but notice how the nurses and staff liked and respected her. She was a good friend, fun and funny, so knowledgeable and good natured and helpful. It's my priviledge to have had her as a friend. To Gene and all of her family,my greatest sympathy. Ann Hoaglund

My heartfelt sympathy to Gene and all of Shirley's children and grandchildren and family. Shirley was a true friend - loyal, generous and just always there. When I left the convent and was moving to NJ, she drove out to the East Coast and flew home when she saw me settled. Then a few years later when I moved back to Mpls with husband and children - there was Shirley, helping me get a job as a long term sub at Burnsville. Thanks so much, Shirley, for showing me what it means to be a friend! I'll never forget you...
