Henry Miller Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

Henry M. Miller, a two year resident of Taylor and a former resident of Austin for many years passed away December 19, 2003, at his home, which was his wish. Celebration of life services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2003, at Providence Funeral Home of Taylor with his niece Gail Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery. Henry was born December 25, 1904, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to Jewish immigrants from Austria, Hungary. His parents, Ben and Helen Miller returned to Austria, Hungary with him as an infant. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Helen Miller; three brothers, Fred Miller, Eddie Miller and Sam Miller; and a sister, Elsie Berry. He is survived by a sister, Betty Teguns of Dallas. He had his bar mitzvah at the age of thirteen. In 1932 he was united in marriage to Mollie Price. Three children Gary, Norman, and Alice were born to this union. He is survived by his sons, Gary and Norman Miller, both of Houston; and his daughter, Alice Stroman of Austin; along with three grandchildren, Keith, Anna, and Rebecca. In 1974 he was united in marriage to Winona Williamson Becker, who survives him along with her children Bonnie Brooks of Taylor, Brenda Cheek of Lockhart, and Tom Becker of Round Rock; and six grandchildren. Henry will be greatly missed by Winona whom he referred to as the love of his life. Their travels took them many places together. He was in sales most of his life. He loved sports, especially golf, which he played well into his eighties. He had violin lessons as a child until he broke his arm. After retirement he joined a senior citizens volunteer music group called the Silver Strings which was very fulfilling for him. Special thanks to Dr. Pascal Gaudreault and neighbors Ron and Linda Pekar. Pallbearers will be Jay Cheek, Keith Brooks, Neil Miller, Ron Pekar, Tom Becker, and John Williamson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs Rd. Ste. 100, Austin, Texas or the charity of your choice. The family invites you to share your words of comfort at an online tribute established at www.Providencefuneralhome.com to celebrate the life of Henry M. Miller.
