OSBORN (Montgomery), Helen Sue Born in Waco Texas October 1, 1921.Died in Portland Oregon August 22, 2017. Until late retirement Helen was a lifelong resident of Austin, Texas and a lifelong member of University United Methodist Church. She graduated from Austin High School in 1939, the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in home economics, in 1943. She married Roger Cook Osborn on October 2, 1942, and became his widow on July 15, 2012 after 70 years of marriage. Helen's interests included travel, sewing, reading and spending time with family and friends. She was an active member of the church, a member of The Outlook Circle, and a teacher of first grade Sunday School. She was also a member of The University Ladies Club for 60 years. Her children will remember her for the many life lessons she taught them, the countless hours of carpooling them to music lessons, recitals, after-school events, swimming and tennis lessons, and for her constant reminders to do the very best they could, no matter what the task. Helen was predeceased by her mother (Almyra Frances Stanford Montgomery) and father (Dr. Clifford Marvin Montgomery), and her older brother John Montgomery. She is survived by brother Lawrence Montgomery & wife Martha (Lubbock), her daughter Myra Barker Hull & son in law Robert Hull (Dallas & Santa Fe), daughter Susan Diane Summa (Santa Fe), son Roger Cook Osborn Jr. & wife Diana Kerr Osborn (Seattle), grandchildren Christopher E Barker & wife Yoko (Tokyo), Jessica Osborn Becker & husband Brent Becker (Kenmore, WA), William A Osborn ( Gaithersburg MD ), and great grandchildren Simon Becker and Walter Becker (Kenmore, WA). I will always remember Helen as my mother´s best friend . I knew her my whole life . In fact, mom was pregnant with me when she went to her wedding in October and I was born November 28! I have photographs of them taking baby photos of me . They met when they both lived in a little cottage complex off of 30 th and Guadalupe . I remember the many many visits and long phone calls when growing up . I´m sure she was a comfort to my folks when I moved to Anchorage , Alaska . I still can see her waving goodbye to me when I was on the plane in the days when you could stand on the tarmac ! She came to my bridal showers after meeting my fiancé in Anchorage and returning to marry . Again , she was a gift to my parents when we left to live in California since I was an only child . Mom always said that she and Roger were always there for them whenever they needed something . The day dad died , they took
Mom to their home where Roger placed a call to me .
Please know that I will always treasure Helen and Roger being an integral part of our lives .
