A week doesn’t pass that I don’t think of Wendell and miss him. We became great friends and business associates over several decades. He was so smart and so much fun to be around. RIP Wendell, I’ll see you before long. Charles Ward.

Wendell was a mentor I am still quoting to this day. He may not have taught me everything about the marketing business, but he gave me a strong, broad ground on which to build a career. More than that he gave me inspiration and an fine, working example of a way to enjoy every minute of a life. Farewell, my friend.

Other than Carl, I have probably been
friends with Wendy ( that is what he was called during our early years )longer than anyone else....
Starting in 1940....we lived next door to each other...we took guitar lessons
together when we were about 9 years
old....actually I only took lessons.
He actually learned to play...he already knew how to sing. We played
Little League baseball...I was the pitcher and he was the catcher...
Even though we went our seperate ways
after high school, we would stay in
contact as real good friends do.....
It is at times like this that you wish
we had been closer in our later life...
But our memories were still there when
we talked....
He was a special person in my life.

My life has been so much richer having known Wendell. It was a blessing to have played with him in Texas Medicine.

I am so sorry and saddened to hear of Wendell's passing. The times we shared together making music in Texas Medicine are some of my fondest memories. Wendell always brought great spirit and soul to the songs he sang.
Sharon, Betty and I hope you and your family find peace and solace in the music and songs that you shared together.

Although I only knew this man through his daughter, Eden's eyes, I know that he was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed.

The day I met Wendell in Austin we had coffee, then lunch, then talked all afternoon and over dinner he decided to join our advertising agency and move to Austin from Dallas. From that day in the early 70's on, Wendell and I never had an argument. His nickname at the agency was "Wonderful Wendell" and he lived up to it in every endeavor. All of us learned so much from Wendell every year. He was the marketing guru who could see into the future and guide us to victories. Although we have not worked together in a few years, we would always share a long phone call with experiences every six months or so. He faced his illness bravely. It will never be the same again without Wendell Hearne around. Thanks for everything, Wendell.
