Theodore ZWEIG Obituary

ZWEIG, Theodore "Ted" Max

Theodore "Ted" Max Zweig, age 64, retired brick mason, from Amarillo, Texas and born on December 13, 1948 to Max & Peggy Zweig, died on October 26, 2013 at Christopher House-Hospice Austin with his loving wife and sister by his side after a very short bout with Cancer.

Ted served honorably in the US NAVY during the Vietnam Veteran War between December 19, 1967 and November 26, 1971 as a Radioman (RM3). He was stationed in Hawaii and out of Long Beach, CA onboard the USS KANSAS CITY (AOR-3).

Ted and his wife Diane lived in Austin for the last 23 years. He worked in the brick masonry trade for 35 years and built churches, schools, banks, office buildings, government and public facilities from Washington State to Washington D.C. and many cities in Texas. He loved spending his spare time writing... Writing poems, songs or just thought... And he loved playing the guitar. Wrote songs for his wife, sister and friends... And he drew inspiration from song writers like Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and John Prine.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Diane Zweig, his sister Becky Coyne and her two daughters Lisa Metcalf and Tanya Scudder (nieces) in addition to many loving aunts, cousins, a great-aunt and close friends from coast to coast.

Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 2PM at the Weed-Corley-Fish Event Center at 411 RR 620 South in Lakeway, TX. I remember hitting golf balls off Ted and Diane's back porch. Those were some fun times. Rest in peace, friend.

Well Ted~we said goodbye today. Diane did a wonderful job letting us all in to your heart with your words through lyric and poem. I truly regret that I didn't get to hear them in your voice with your guitar in hand, but I can say that I am blessed to have heard them now. Seeing the navy salute you today would have brought me to my knees if I hadn't been sitting down and a "thank you" does not come close to how I feel knowing that you served our country, no matter what state it is in now. Please get on to Boudreaux if he starts acting up! You were the only person he listened to! And I'm going to have a hard time making my sticky buns again! I'll be thinking of you if I do.

Would have liked to have known Ted better. I recall being with him at a Zweig Family reunion in 1981 at Ellwood Park. Many prayers for those left behind.

Remembering Ted with fondness. He always had a smile, a hearty laugh, and stories to share. Continuing to pray for comfort and peace for his family.
