Joe JAIME Obituary

JAIME, Joe Oscar

Joe Oscar Jaime, born September 30, 1923, passed away October 24, 2014. He was 91 years old. He was a WWII Veteran having served in the U.S. Army as a Combat Engineer, Company C 351st Engineers under the leadership of General George C. Patton during the Battle of the Bulge. Oscar was awarded an EAME Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and Four Overseas Service Bars. He worked for contractor, Jack Rather, for a number of years. He was very well-known for his creative carpentry skills specializing in cabinetry, so much that he was asked by LBJ's sister, Rebekah Johnson Bobbitt, to build a sewing cabinet for her and it was constructed beautifully. He enjoyed the big band music of Frank Sinatra and the Glenn Miller Band. He very much enjoyed dancing with his wife, Angelita, of 49 years. One of his past times was hunting with friends and family at his South Texas Ranch land. He always entertained his family and friends with many stories of his life, surprisingly all true. He kiddingly bragged about a girlfriend he met in Europe, "Eydie Gorme". He took pleasure in driving his Thunderbirds, especially his baby blue 1964 Thunderbird. He was a very devoted husband and father. Most notably he was very proud of his three children, their spouses and his grandchildren.

Joe Oscar is preceded in death by his wife, Angelita Alvarez Jaime; his parents, Theodoro Jaime, Sr. and Brijida R. Jaime; his brother, Theodore Jaime, Jr. and his sister, Carmen Reyna. He is survived by siblings, brother, Jesse Jaime and his wife Elizabeth of Austin, TX; brother Ruben Jaime and his wife Lynda of Manor, TX; sisters Lidia Mercado and her husband Jesse; Amparo Jaime and Ida Trawick all of Austin, TX. He is also survived by his children, Jerry Oscar Jaime and his wife Erica of Carrollton, TX; Belinda "Linda" Jaime Pace and her husband Kenneth of Carrollton, TX; Brenda Elaine Parnell and her husband Paul of Cedar Creek, TX; his grandchildren, David Joseph Jaime, Mikaela Julianna Pace, Nicole Elaine Parnell and Jessica Taylor Parnell.

Joe Oscar lived a very full and exciting life. He was a "happy go lucky" kind of guy and will be greatly missed.

Linda, Jerry and Brenda we loved your dad so much!! What an honor it was to have known and loved him. He always had a smile on his face and I loved listening to him tell stories. I will never forget the time he helped Ken put together the storage units for Mom's garage. We loved seeing him at Thanksgiving, Christmas and anytime he was up from Austin. He will be missed greatly but remembered always.

Jerry and Family,
While I did not know Joe personally, I did have the honor of knowing his son Jerry and I can only imagine what a Magnificent man Joe was by the example of a Man his Son is. After reading about the celebration of Joe's life, we have lost a great treasure. Please know that you and your family are sincerely in my prayers.
May the Holy Spirit Comfort you at this time,
Joyce Courtney – UNT System

Although I never met Mr. Jaime, I know he had to be a great father and a good man. I heard many stories over the years Jerry and I shared an office at UNT System. One of Jerry's favorite stories involved Jerry purchasing a new Camaro instead of the pickup dad tried to convince him would be better for his work.... Jerry's reasoning was it had "T" tops so he could carry a ladder, no problem... Jerry would say laughingly: "Just one more time when my dad was absolutely right!"

So, rest in peace Mr Jaime, knowing that you left the world a better place than you were born to. Thank you for the long hard years of protecting our freedom with your service in WWII. They don't give out Bronze Star medals for "Watching from a safe distance" You are a proud member of "The Greatest Generation." A man's greatest accomplishment is to raise good children and you sir, have done exactly that....

God Bless the Jaime family.
