W. Leonard Bunger July 15, 1911 - April 22, 2010 SALEM - W. Leonard Bunger went home to be with the Lord on April 22, 2010 at the age of 98. Born July 15, 1911 in Rocky Ford, Colo. he moved to Dallas in 1946 with his wife Ruth (Nazarenus) whom he married in 1941. He worked as a shipping clerk for Caterpillar and was a member of First Baptist Church in Salem. Leonard enjoyed building, gardening, baking cookies he loved to share and growing beautiful flowers. After retiring, he found pleasure in helping family and friends with various projects, especially those involving carpentry. Even though he enjoyed these things, the constant desire of his heart was to serve the Lord and share the love of Jesus with others. He is survived by daughters, Bonnie Sullivan (Terry) of Jefferson and Carolyn Curtis (Wally) of Keizer; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; two brothers; and four sisters. Public viewing Wednesday, April 28 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen Funeral Home. Memorial service 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29 at First Baptist Church Community Life Center, 395 Marion St. NE, Salem. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to First Baptist Church or the Union Gospel Mission.
