I am sorry to learn about Richard's passing. I remember playing Jazz music for the very first time with Rich. I was maybe 13(1962)at the time and he was so kind as a teacher and friend. He made it easy for me to be comfortable playing with and learning from him and his “older” friends who were so talented. As a result, Rich changed my musical life in a very positive way. My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family.

Such a great guy! First to introduce himself and make you feel like an old friend. Loved the way his face lit up when he talked about his love of family and jazz. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Rich's passing - truly a loss to his family and the community. Rich and I were business school friends and we kept in touch for many years afterwards. I remember playing tennis with him, and then swimming in his Webster pool afterwards. I even stayed at his house years later when interviewing for a job in St. Louis, as I was living in Detroit.
Please accept my sincere condolences for a tragic loss.

I remember times with Richard watching our kids play soccer as he did his "weekend" investment banking homework and discussing the local issues of the week. He was a talented guy and a good friend. I'll miss him. Richard Lane
