David Ulett Obituary

Ulett, David Surrounded by his family, the Lord welcomed David Ulett, 37, home on March 6, 2009 after his courageous fight with cancer. David was born on July 12, 1971 in St. Louis, MO. His family moved to Lee's Summit, MO when he was 5, where he attended Our Lady of the Presentation and O'Hara High School before earning his bachelor's degree in Marketing from Central Missouri State University. In 2001, he found the love of his life when he met his wife, Cyndi. They were married on September 21, 2002. David had a love of life that rubbed off on all those around him. His sense of humor stayed with him throughout his life. He was a loving husband, son, brother and friend and his smile and laughter will be greatly missed by all who knew him. David was preceded in death by his grandparents, and is survived by his wife Cyndi, his stepdaughters; Olivia and Emily, mother and father; John and Carol Ulett, sister; Cathy Koob and husband Jonah, sister; Margaret Winkeler and husband Paul, sister; Mary Jouras, and husband Peter, sister; Teresa Bender and husband Nathan, and six nieces and nephews. Burial will be at Longview Memorial Gardens, Kansas City following the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in David's memory for the future education of his two stepdaughters. I was a lucky recipient of pictures that David took at the McCain / Palin rally last fall. We stood by each other there and he offered to email his pictures. I read of his death in the O'Hara newspaper. I will keep your family in my prayers.

Dave and I were in a speech class together at O'Hara. We collaborated on a debate together, the controversial topic of which was undertaken entirely to provoke reactions from our fellow students! I will never forget the mischievous enthusiasm Dave exhibited when we simultaneously realized -- and instantly agreed -- to take on a debate topic no one else would touch! Of course, we had no chance of winning anyone over (we didn't even try!), but we had a grand time going putting the class through the wringer. I am saddened to hear that he's departed us, but I shall pray for the repose of his soul, and I hope, in the words of St. Thomas More, that Dave and I can meet again, "right merrily in Heaven." My sincere condolences to the Ulett family.
