Arlene Luning Obituary

Luning, Arlene Dorothy (nee Laspe) passed away peacefully on April 11, 2010. Beloved wife of 56 years to Edmund A. Luning; dear mother and mother-in-law of Mark (Claudia), Greg (Mary), Christopher, Thomas (Julie), Susan and Drew (Karen) Luning; dear grandmother of Michael, Catherine, Claire, Conor, Miles, Grace, Drew Jr., and Charles; dear sister of Joan Biest (the late Warren Biest), Cheryl Goryl (Dick), and her brother, the late Ted Laspe, our dear aunt, great-aunt, cousin and Arlene also was a dear life-long friend to many wonderful people. Arlene was born in St. Louis attended Washingon University and studied fashion design. Arlene was passionate about art, travel, clothing, culture and most of all raising her six children. She was a life-long volunteer at various organizations and schools including Priory, DeSmet, Nerinx Hall, Cardinal Ritter Guild and Soup Kitchen of Naples. Thanks to the support of Chesterfield Villas, Pathways Hospice and Nurses for You for all their wonderful care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Arlene's name to the American Diabetes Assoc. or Susan G. Koman. Services: From the ORTMANN-STIPANOVICH Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur, Wed., April 14, 9:30 a.m. to St. Louis Abbey Church (St. Anselm Parish) for 10 a.m. Mass Interment Holy Cross Mausoleum. Visitation 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
