Dane Erick Knight, 19, of Bay St. Louis, MS passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013 in Starkville, MS. The ultimate gentleman, Dane never met a stranger. He was known as
"Sunshine" to his family and had a smile that would light up the room. With handsome looks to match his beautiful soul, he was able to touch people with his kindness, faith, and generosity. He had a magnetic personality that drew in children and adults alike. Dane's faith was unwavering and his spiritual maturity was like no other. He dedicated
much of his life to serving others, with hours spent in community service and church organizations. He was blessed with an exceptional drive to succeed. He excelled in academics, track and field, and even enjoyed the occasional dance. He began his life as a beloved son and grandson, grew into a loyal brother and friend, but his journey ended as a true man of character, too soon. Dane graduated with honors from St. Stanislaus College in 2012. He received the Character Cup award his senior year. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Key Club, March for Life, Yearbook Staff and as a track athlete, he placed 2nd in the Pole Vault competition at the MS State Tract Meet. Dane also went on several mission Trips to Saltillo. He was a leader on the Kairos and Search retreat team. Dane will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his mother, Michelle Chiniche Knight of Bay St. Louis, MS, brother, Levi James Knight of Bay St. Louis, MS, father, Douglas E. Knight, III of Laurel, MS, grandparents, James J. & Betty Chiniche of Bay St. Louis, MS, Martha McLain of Laurel, MS, aunts, Jami C. Rutherford & husband, John, IV, Hope C. Kergosien & husband, Pat of Bay St. Louis, MS, uncle, Jason Chiniche & wife Natalie of Bay St. Louis, MS, cousins, Erin Kergosien of Galveston, TX, Kristin Kergosien of Corpus Christi, TX, Jaynie Kergosien of Bay St. Louis, MS, Pierce Kergosien of Bay St. Louis, MS, Bella Chiniche of Bay St. Louis, MS, James, Jeremiah Rutherford of Bay St. Louis, MS and John David Rutherford, V of Bay St. Louis, MS.
The visitation is Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis, MS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Bay St. Louis, MS.
In Lieu of flowers the family request donations in memory of Dane Knight to St. Stanislaus, attn: Advancement, 304 S. Beach Blvd., Bay St. Louis, MS 39520 or call Chris Mensi, 228-467-9057 ext. 255.
Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS is in charge of the arrangements.

My sympathy, my heart and my prayers go out to the Knight and to the Chiniche families, as well as friends, relatives and the entire SSC school body. The tragic loss of such an exceptional soul is beyond human comprehension. I have only faith, but often no comprehension, of God's plans for us.

Dane, you are truly missed. Even though I haven't known you for the longest time I worked with you two summers in a row at Barnacle Bill's Water Park. You were definitely quite the ladies man.. I remember one day some little girl pretended like she hurt her ankle just so you could pick her up and carry her into the breakroom. That's definitely something I will never forget. You were just the kindest person anyone could ever imagine being around. With that being said, you will never be forgotten I am also praying for you and your family.
