Elmer Laughlin Obituary

Laughlin Laughlin, Elmer E Capt. U.S. Navy Ret.,died June 6 at Hospice in North Broward Hospital. Elmer flew PBYs and was involved in 9 major battles in WWII including Pearl Harbor, Wake Island and Guam. After serving as chief test pilot at Jacksonville Naval Air Station, he flew for US Air, Mackey and Eastern Airlines while continuing to fly in the Naval Reserves. In the latter part of his career, he specialized in safety issues for the Airline Pilots Union. He was a loyal friend and father. He is survived by a sister, three daughters and five grandchildren. Interested parties are invited to donate to a charity of their choice in his name.

I knew Elmer when he flew Mackey airlines into Tampa in the 1960's. He was and always will be a dear friend. He was a remarkable human being. He will be missed.

Elmer and his wife, Millie, were friends of over 40 years. They are both missed every day. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
