EDWARD G. BINKERD Ed passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Predeceased by his parents Orville and Edna Binkerd and his sister Shirley DeVries, Ed is survived by Sharon, his beloved wife of nearly 32 years; three children from a former marriage - Steve, Scott and Susan, his sisters Martha Gass and Margaret Eastburn and brother Adrian; as well as many nephews, nieces and close friends. As was his wish, Ed was buried on May 3, 2017 among the pine trees and wild flowers at Glendale Memorial Nature Preserve in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Born in 1938 and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, Ed moved to Springfield, Illinois in 1968 where he was employed by the Illinois National Bank. In 1980 he relocated to Ft Lauderdale, Florida where he worked as a Human Resources executive for many years. Ed will be fondly remembered for his gentle nature and sense of humor which he shared freely in "FROM THE BIRDBATH", his monthly newsletter to family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made in Ed's memory to your favorite charity, or to one of the following of his: The Glendale Memorial Nature Preserve in DeFuniak Springs, FL; Children's Harbor, Fort Lauderdale, FL; The Make a Wish Foundation; or the Sphinx Music Organization.
