Hugh L. Smith

Hugh L. Smith, 82, died Thursday, May 19, 2011. He worked for over 40 years for Sherwin Williams Paint Company, working his way up from truck driver to District Manager. He attended Atlanta Law School and was admitted as a member of the bar of the Supreme Court of Georgia in December of 1951. He and his wife Betty, who preceded him in death, raised their family in Tallahassee, Florida. He was a Life Master duplicate bridge player and enjoyed playing at the Bridge Club in Tallahassee and Panama City Beach. He enjoyed living at the beach in Panama City Beach, Florida for many years. Those who knew and loved him will miss his generous, caring nature. He was a dedicated employee, loving father, caring grandfather and beloved great-grandfather.

He is survived by his fianc?: Saralyn Foster; his three children: Deborah Dugger (Ric Dugger), Dianne Hutchinson (Mack Hallcox), Pamela Buckner (Ken Buckner), his grandchildren: Melissa Weaver, Kelly Brooks and Scott Buckner, his great-grandchildren: Emily Brooks, Micah Brooks, Carter Brooks, Brooke Weaver and Nolan Weaver.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 22, at Southerland Funeral Home in Panama City from 2:00-4:00. A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, in Panama City Florida, Monday, May 23 at 10:00.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd. Tallahassee, Florida, 32308.
