Carl Hawkins Obituary



HAWKINS, Carl W., 84, of Tampa, died May 20, 2011. He was born in

Lorado, W.Va., March 5, 1927, to James and Elfleta Hawkins. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he married Kathryn Staten Hawkins and worked as an electrician for Lorado Mining Company until they moved to Florida in 1960. In Florida, he was employed by Florida Steel Corporation and Gardinier Inc., until his retirement. He was preceded in death by both parents and brothers, Charles Ernest Hawkins and James Edward Hawkins; and his sister, Nina Lou Ball. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; sons, Carl W. Hawkins Jr. (Cynthia) and James Hawkins (Garnett); daughter, Nancy Hawkins Fazioli; and five grandsons, Carl W. Hawkins III (Evelyn), Joseph Fazioli, Daniel Fazioli, Jordan Hawkins and Cameron Hawkins. He is also survived by his brother, Orville Hawkins (Loretta) of Sarasota, Fla., and Joan Marie England of St. Petersburg, Fla. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday, May 23, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 Bearss Ave. A private graveside service will take
