It's hard to believe nine years have passed by. I still remember Lonnie often, he was a great guy. I wish he was around today to see what he'd think of politics and this Covid-19 thing going around. I'd bet he'd have plenty to say. I still miss him.

Dear Mary and Family....I am a friend from Lonnie's long past. In fourth grade, I attended Riverton Elementary School and was in Mrs. Biggs' class along with Lonnie. That year was so much fun and I always looked forward to soft ball games at recess, even though I have never been much of an athlete! The greatest facination of the game was that Lonnie, Kent Coons, and Donald Sims were all in my class and I had a crush on all three of them!!!! We had very flexible rules in our games of soft ball. One was, particularly for the girls...if we couldn't hit the ball on the second try, we could choose a teammate to bat for us. I loved this and always hoped to miss the balls so I could choose either Lonnie, Kent, or Donald to bat for me...then I would dash on to first base! At fourth grade level, this was terribly romantic and such fun! Lonnie was very blond, Kent was very dark, and Donald had nice brown hair. I loved coming to school! Lonnie was always so kind and friendly and I'll always remember his wonderful smile. I am 68, happily married, mother of two chlldren and two grandchildren, and live in Charlotte, N.C. Ironically, it seems that Lonnie died the day our family was driving to Front Royal to attend a graveside service the next day for my mother, Catherine (Kitty) Forsyth, who was 94 and had lived in Staunton, Virginia for many years. I found out about Lonnie's death just recently. Later moving closer into Front Royal and attending the local school, I lost track of Lonnie, but as old as I am now, I still remember his nice smile, kind ways, and the thrill of playing softball with him. He was a terrific player. I wasn't surprised when I saw his connections with baseball in later years. My love and condolences to all the family. I thought you might enjoy this little story about knowing your husband, Dad, and grandad at fourth grade level.
My sympathy and warmest wishes...Bea Forsyth Oettinger or the former "Nicey" Forsyth

My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family.I am so very sorry for your loss.
I was a childhood friend of his boys.
I remember the first time I saw Mr. Bridges-I thought he looked like a ''Movie Star''. He had a genuine smile and when he asked you how you were doing-- He truly wanted to hear the answer.
It was nice, being so young, to be HEARD.
Life happened and my friends & I lost track of each other but when ever I saw Mr. Bridges (before they moved to Fla) at the store or on the street- He would remember me and ask how I was doing.
He really wanted to know....
As an adult & through Technology (FB) I have found my many of my childhood friends again. It has been a blessing.
Chris & his lovely wife Brenda are FB friends. I realized- through him, that he was such a lucky person- He had one the Rarest gifts that anyone could EVER have. He had a wonderful relationship with God, and most importantly, He had that very same closeness with his Father.
Few people in this world can say that.
Death doesn't erase someone's life. Not passing on those life lessons & Not being there for others the way he was for you, does.
Take care of yourselves &Stay strong---Judy, David, Jeff, Chris and Mary Ann- God Bless you all.
Much Love & peace

Dearest Chris,
I am so saddened to hear the news that your father has passed away. As you know, Robbie is just like family to us so it hurts to know that there is pain in your families hearts. Please know that we are here for you in any and every way. Your father is being comforted by the arms of our lord, as he comforts you and your family through friends, family and prayer during this sad time. We are praying for you and your family and are here for anything you need.

It was through Lonnie that I got my first guitar, a Yamaha FG-180. Our talks by snail mail and computer were an inspiration to me. I loved Lonnie, my uncle, he is missed.
