Mary Comer Obituary

Mary E. (Gagnon) Comer, 87, of Fielding Street, died peacefully on Saturday, December 25, 2011, under the loving care of her family at UMass Memorial Healthcare-Memorial Campus after an illness. Mary was born in Boston, the daughter of Harold D. and Katherine (Murphy) Gagnon and lived most of her life in Worcester.

Her husband of 45 years, John "Red" Comer died in 1994. She leaves two daughters, Kathleen M. Comer and Ann Comer Kruczek both of Worcester; three sons, Thomas J. Comer and his wife Diana of Holden, John C. Comer of Worcester, and F. Gerard Comer of Boca Raton, Florida; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren, Kevin Kruczek, his wife Gena and their daughter Kaitlyn, Elisabeth Comer Krupinski, her husband Brian and their children Emily and Janine, Jennifer Kruczek, Katherine Comer Serpa, her husband Joe and their son Dante, Laura Kruczek and Robert Comer; two brother-in-laws, Simon Belli of Lawrenceville, New Jersey and Francis Comer and his wife Mildred of Worcester; nephews and nieces. Besides her husband, Mary is predeceased by a grandson, Thomas "TJ" Comer, a brother, Harold D. Gagnon, Jr., and a sister, Jeanne Belli.

Mary graduated South High School and the former State Teacher's College in Worcester, now Worcester State University. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish in Worcester.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. In honor of Mary's life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Angels, Family Center Campaign, 1222 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01603.
