Glenn Swenson Obituary

Glenn M. Swenson, 69, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2010. He was born on February 7, 1941 in Worcester, MA, son of the late Anna and Malte Swenson. Glenn graduated from North High School in Worcester, Massachusetts and continued his education at Worcester Junior College before transferring to Michigan State University where he received his BA in Business Administration. After serving in the Army Reserves, Glenn started his career with Hubbell, Inc., where he was employed for 38 years and rose to the position of Vice President. During his years at Hubbell he went on to receive his MBA at Pace University and continued graduate studies at Harvard University and Columbia University.

Glenn was predeceased by his son Dean Glenn. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janet E. (Kneale) Swenson and two daughters, Dana L. Weinstein of Madison and Dawn L. Swenson of Guilford. In addition he is survived by his son-in-law Scott D. Weinstein and two beautiful grandchildren, Ellen and Daniel Weinstein.

Glenn was an avid reader and had a passion for skiing, running and golf. He traveled with friends throughout the country to participate in road races. Finishing the Honolulu Marathon was his greatest reward. He was a member of New Haven Country Club and Madison Country Club for many years. He was also a member of the Madison Beach Club which he enjoyed for the short walk from his home.

Friends are invited to join the family in a celebration of Glenn's life on Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 3 to 6 at the Madison Country Club, 8 West Wharf Rd, Madison, CT 06443. Janet - We are so sorry to hear about Glenn's passing. He was certainly an upstanding individual and an asset to all who knew him - a life cut too short. Sorry we will not be in the shoreline on Sunday. Fran says he will always remember Glenn's good advice on securing Masters Practice Round tickets.
