Emily and family!
I hope that the messages here provide you comfort for your loss. Don's memory will forever be cherished on this earth as he did so many great things. He was a true inspiration to me, a "nobody" songwriter and countless others. I will treasure the moments I had with him. May God bless your family and help you to heal through this.

I met Don in 2005, and immediately became friends with him. What a gentle intelligent man. There was always a laugh - he had a way to make his friends say funny things - and he was always a joy to be with. I was a lucky songwriter/musician to have been able to get to know Don and write and perform with him. He will be deeply missed by both Tammy and myself. Our sympathy to Emily and the family.

MIss Emily, and to all of Don's family, I am so sorry for you loss. I was one of countless fledgling songwriters who Don encouraged, and I will forever be grateful to him for that. What a sweet, sincere gentleman. My prayers go out to you all in this great time of sorrow. We truly have lost one of the good ones.

To Don's Family and Friends:
Don was one of the most respected, admired and loved songwriters. Just his demeanor -- his paitence and wit taught me a lot. Don accompanied me to Washington, D.C. to advocate for songwriter rights. He made special friends with Congressman Howard Coble who headed the Committee that dealt with songwriter issues. They bonded and their communications both advanced the songwriter agenda... and they beacame friends. I was with Congressman Coble this week. He spoke with Don just a few days ago. The lyrics to "Country Bumpkin", handwritten by Don.... are framed and at the entrance to the Congessman's office. We sure miss you Don.

One of my fondest memories as a child was a visit from Uncle Don and Aunt Emily. Uncle Don pulled out his guitar and sang songs for us as my grandfather recorded it. Uncle Don sang Hank, Poor Little Jimmy, Country Bumpkin and a few other songs. I still have that old recording from 1975 and cherish it very much. So thankful for the time I did get to share with my family.
My thoughts and prayers are with you today. Love and Blessings.

As a aspiring songwriter I came to Nashville i 2001. I played my first songs at a local venue and Mr. Wayne was in the audience. He became a friend and mentor for me as well as many other writers know. Thank you Mr. Wayne for your attention and kindness to a fledgling writer. I will miss you!

I had the honor of singing a few demos for Don and he was one of the kindest souls I ever met in Nashville. A humble man with a wealth of talent and wisdom who always had time to share his gift with those of us who learned so much from him. He truly was a class act and a southern gentleman. See you later "Country Bumpkin"...

Welcome Home
written by L J Coon
Welcome home my friend, from so much suffering
Welcome home my friend, step out of the pain
It's ok to cry, we've all seen tears before
Its ok my friend welcome home
Talk of love ones lost, so many years ago
And how you hurt inside, till no more tears would flow
Let the healing start, you can't look back no more
Its ok my friend welcome home
Welcome home, from so much suffering
Welcome home, step out of the pain
It's ok to cry, we've all seen tears before
Its ok my friend, welcome home
Could I somehow sooth, your pain that lives within
If you just let go, the healing will begin
Holding on so tight, letting go is half the test
Its ok my friend welcome home
Welcome home, from so much suffering
Welcome home, step out of the pain
It's ok to cry, we've all seen tears before
Its ok my friend, welcome home
It's ok my friend the pain won't hurt, no more ...

I, too am so sorry for the loss of such a dear man. I regret that I did not have a chance to meet him personally, but felt as if I knew him. He was such a good friend to my parents, Terry and Diane Williford, and they spoke so kindly of him often. My prayers are with you at this time of sorrow and loss.
Sincerely,

Miss Sunshine, Donna & family - I'm so sorry for your loss - I have never known anyone that I have known only for a dear, short time that has impacted my life as he did. He was a true gentleman and friend. We really loved him more than he will ever know. May God be with you at this time. Love you, Diane Williford

The perfect example of a southern gentleman, was so evident, that he was known this way by freinds, and fans. His talent was huge, but in his own mind, he was a humble man, filled with kindness, and I hope he realized how much he meant to so many people, especially younger songwriters, that he always encouraged, and made time for. He's a great case for Karma, because his goodness, and honest heart were rewarded by the love of a truly great woman, and the total respect of everyone he encountered. I have no doubt his final reward will be tremendous, and we will miss him terribly. God bless Emily and the rest of his family. Don McNatt
