I've just learned of Fred's passing. We first met when he served as my academic advisor at SUNY Cortland in the mid-1980s. I'm so grateful for the insight and encouragement he offered aat each of our many meetings. Following graduation, Fred and Natalie welcomed me to their home as a friend and an informal apprentice in Fred's Reader's Theatre Group. I've thought of him frequently over the past year and am saddened to learn of his passing. He was a supportive, inspiring man with a big heart and bouyant sense of humor. Foturnate are we who knew him.

Such a sweet, kind and colorful man. During my brief time as a symphony volunteer, before moving out of state, Fred was a favorite. God bless us all. God bless the lovely Schermerhorn.

Fred was my very dear friend, I loved him and I miss him.
When I read his obit, I saw stories yet to be told; I didn't know he went to B.U I'm a volunteer and patron at the symphony because of Fred. He got an extra ticket when he volunteered, so invited me to the symphony many, many times. People at the symphony may not have known his name; but when I tell them he's the little guy with white hair that sat at the Box Office corridor - they knew him then. Fred's patron number was 2, he loved the symphony and it gave him much pleasure. After retiring to Gallatin, Fred would invite musicians to visit the schools, in doing so he touched lives of many children. He shared every holiday with ever holiday with my family, he would always bring his 8 minute pickles they are fab. He always had a story to tell and most were new to me. And he continued tell them until his last hours. Fred had good life.

Sincere thoughts of peace and courage for the family. May you be comforted by knowing there has been an interchange of love between you. Beautiful memories can be reflected upon. And know God is near all those broke at heart. Isaiah 57:15
