NANTICOKE — Katherine M. Libus, 78 of Nanticoke, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Matilda Swithers Busch and graduated from Nanticoke High School.
Katherine was employed as a telephone switchboard operator at the former Bell Telephone Company. She also worked as a home health aide. For years she enjoyed making arts and crafts and traveling to Wildwood, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania Dutch Country.
She was a member of St. Faustina Parish and the former St. Francis of Assisi Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Busch.
Katherine is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Joseph; son, Christopher and his wife, Michelle, Swoyersville; her dearly loved grandsons, Joseph and Jacob; sister, Ruth Dorak, Selinsgrove; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on 12:30 p.m. Friday from Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 173 E. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. in St. Faustina Parish. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Katherine's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
