LOIS BUTLER

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 14, 2011 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Lois "Peggy" Butler, 84, who passed away on February 11, 2011 at 4:10 am at her residence.

Reverend Jack O'Dell, Pastor of The Well United Methodist Church of Ponchatoula, and Reverend Weldon Bares, Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Lake Charles will conduct the funeral services.

Interment will take place in Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Butler, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late Charles Hamm of Ipava, Illinois and the former Zelma Briley of Wichita, Kansas. Mrs. Butler was a Sunday school teacher for 5th and 6th grade students at Delhi United Methodist Church. She was the membership secretary for First United Methodist Church of Lafayette for many years. She was past president of United Methodist Women at First United Methodist Church of Lafayette. Mrs. Butler belonged to the Biscuit Bunch at First United Methodist Church of Lafayette, she also crocheted stocking caps for the United Christian Outreach. Mrs. Butler was very involved with the Evangeline Shriners Club with her late husband.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Overby and her husband, Robert of Oak Grove, LA, and Barbara Butler of Dallas, TX; two sons, Dennis Butler of Carencro, and Brian Butler and his wife, Dawn of Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Robin Welch and husband, Keith, Nicholas Overby, Ray Overby and his wife, Julie, Evan Butler, Hillary Gary, Seth Butler, and Micah Butler; two great grandchildren, Abbey Welch, and Daniel Welch.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe C. Butler; and one brother, Jack Younkin.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and will continue on Monday from 10:00 am until service time.

Pallbearers will be Robin Welch, Nicholas Overby, Ray Overby, Evan Butler, Seth Butler, and Micah Butler. Honorary Pallbearers will be Abbey Welch, and Daniel Welch.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Denise Myers and Dr. Bradley Blappert for their love, care and support during Mrs. Butler's illness. Thanks also to Paramount Hospice .

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Fl 17, Chicago, IL. 60601 or Paramount Hospice, 101 La Rue France, Lafayette, LA. 70508 in Mrs. Butler's name.
