Jacqueline Vice Obituary

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Mrs. Jacqueline "Jackie" Vice, 77, who passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010, at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans.
Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.
Pastor Todd Menard, of Family Life Church in Lafayette, will officiate.
Jackie was born Sunday, August 14, 1932 to parents Tanney and Lelia Trahan LeBlanc. A native of Lafayette, she was raised in Lafayette and was a long-time resident of Duson. Jackie was a retired school secretary with the Lafayette Parish school system.
Jackie was a child of God and is now with our Lord Jesus Christ. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jackie was a great cook and baked delicious desserts. She loved working in her flower garden and reading books. Jackie also enjoyed traveling and loved being with all her friends that shared her common interests and hobbies. Most of all, Jackie was a loving mother who wanted the best for her children. Her positive nature was uplifting to everyone, and she was a true matriarch for her family and friends. We will miss her deeply until we meet again.
Mrs. Vice is survived by five children, Romona Richard Horne and her husband, Raymond of Jacksonville, FL, and Barbara Richard Clark, Ronald Richard and his wife, Mary, and Sandra Vice Broussard, all of Duson; three siblings, brother Larry LeBlanc, Sr. and his wife, Rowena and sisters Delores Purdy and Velma Morello, all of Duson; seven grandchildren, Dawn Clark, Matthew Richard, Keri Richard and Payton Cogburn, all of Duson, Jeremy Richard and his wife Allison and Blair Richard and his wife Donna, of Lafayette, and Lacie Miller and her husband, Shane of Scott; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clemille J. "Bro" Vice; her parents Tanney LeBlanc and the former Lelia Trahan; one daughter, Brenda Richard; and two sisters, Merlene Bourque and Betty Broussard.
The family requests that visiting hours at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home be observed on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and resume on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Richard, Ray Horne, Henry Demette, Jr., Shane Miller, Larry LeBlanc, Sr. and Dave Clark.

I am so sorry about your loss. Jackie Vice was the sweetest, the most kindest Christian woman. I met Miss jackie at 1st assembly Christian School where my kids went to school for a season. Then to my surprise she was my son-in-law's Aunt Jackie. For Paulette's and Stacey's Baby shower, I was able to visit with her, for which I am very grateful. We are praying for all of the family. Love ya'll.

I was so sorry to read in the Daily Advertiser that your mom passed away. She was the monarch of the family having raised 4 children alone. I attended high school with all of you and was in Valkyries with Brenda and Romona and remembered that your mom was so very kind whenever we visited your home. I also worked with Romona at BellSouth Telephone company. I know you will miss her, however heaven is now a better place because of her. My deepest sympathy to all of you. My prayers are with you!

We are sorry to hear of your loss of Ms.Jackie, I heard so much about her from my daughter Crystal Daigle, which was her hairdresser every Friday for a few years now, that I felt like I already knew her and finally I had a chance to meet her after all. She was everything that my daughter had spoke of her, sincere, thoughtfull and so very kind hearted. She was so dear to Crystal and became a great listener, adviser and became most of all a wonderful friend to her . Wanted her family to know how sadly she will be missed by my daughter.Thoughts and prayers from our family to yours.God Bless
