Eugenia Tullos Obituary

Eugenia Rae Wood "Tom" Tullos, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, went home to spend eternity with her blessed Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 5, 2009. She was born to Breard and Dellie Wood on April 16, 1918, in Magnolia, Ark., and was one of eight children. She married Walter V. Tullos Jr. on May 7, 1941, in Homer. They were married for 66 years when he passed away in 2007. Together they owned Tullos Mercantile in Mooringsport and Tullos Bros. in Minden. During the war years, she and her mother-in-law managed their business successfully, giving them the opportunity to expand to multiple stores after the war until 1957 when they merged with TG&Y Stores. She will forever be remembered and loved by her daughter, Emily Simms, of Oklahoma City; a son and daughter-in-law, Vandy and Debbie Tullos, of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Jon and Stephen Minks and Jane Simms, all of Oklahoma City, Kennon and Tony Bannon, of Cary, N.C., Kip Tullos and Jaimee Tullos, of Birmingham, Ala., and Rachel Tullos, of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Zachary, Brantleigh, Tyler and Kayleigh Bannon, all of Cary; brothers, Kermit and Quenton Wood, both of Louisiana; sister, Pat Prince, of Louisiana; and a devoted caregiver, Debbie Van Morris, of Oklahoma City. She was pre-deceased by her twin sister, Virginia Moore; sister, Mildred Wood; and brothers, Truman and Daniel Wood. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She traveled extensively during her life, enjoyed reading and was an avid golfer. She will be remembered for her strength, her courage and her love of life. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jon Minks, Stephen Minks and Kip Tullos; nephews, Carl Worden and Jim Moore; and friend, Joe Stockton. Visitation at Smith & Kernke, 14624 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City, on Wednesday, April 8, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be at the funeral home chapel on Thursday, April 9, at 2 p.m.

Emily, I just received an email from Mindy telling me your mother passed away last weekend. We are so sorry to hear it. Your mother had a wonderful sense of humor and such a cute smile. We just loved her. Claudia and I would like you to know that we're thinking about you. (Our mother was Betty Barrett from Concordia who passed away in January.)
