Robert Budenholzer Obituary

SALINAS

Bob Budenholzer, 86, of Salinas, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, from long term complications related to Parkinson's disease.
He was born Dec. 21, 1922, in Belen, N.M. Bob earned degrees at New Mexico A&M and New Mexico Highlands University. He married his wife of 58 years, Annette, while they were both teaching in Mountainair, N.M. In 1960, Bob moved with his family to Soledad where they raised their six children. He taught at Main Street School and coached after school sports and Little League Baseball. Bob truly loved sports, especially football and golf. He was a member of many bowling leagues and enjoyed playing cards at the 19th hole. In Soledad, he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Foresters of America and Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church. After retirement, Annette and Bob were able to leave behind family trailer vacations and the joys of backing up a trailer and enjoyed traveling with Bob's brothers and sisters. They moved to Salinas in 1994.
Bob is remembered for the many roles he played in life: student, mischievous brother, soldier who earned three bronze stars in WW II, college athlete, coach and teacher who worked to help change students' lives. His family remembers him as a loving husband and father.
The family would like to thank the staff at Katherine Healthcare Center for the excellent care and support they gave to Bob. They would also like to thank Heartland Hospice for their care and assistance.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; several brothers and sisters; and his son, Alan Budenholzer.
Survivors: He is survived by his loving wife, Annette; children, Karen Anne, Brian (Mary Ann), Michele Dalida (Fred), Mike (Jeanette) and Geralyn; and eight grandchildren who made him very proud.
