Matthew James Munro

1936 - 2017

Matthew James Munro, age 81, of Allens Mills Road, Reynoldsville, Pa., previously of Punxsutawney, Pa., passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars, Pa.
Born on June 27, 1936, in DuBois, Pa., he was the son of the late Clifford and Mae Crawford Munro. On Nov. 23, 1957, he was married to Katharine L. Lent. She survives.
Retired, Matthew spent his whole life as a truck driver, for local company Womeldorf Inc., of DuBois, and later hauling new cars for Anchor Motor Freight.
He attended the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Hazen, and was a life-long member of the Teamsters Union.
Matthew enjoyed tinkering around his home, especially fixing cars, and was known by many people in the area by his CB handle "Tinker Man." He also enjoyed traveling, telling jokes and stories, camping and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife Katharine, he is also survived by two daughters, Arlene (Phil) Heitzenrater of Punxsutawney, Beth (Michael) Armstrong Sr. of Brookville; one son, Allen (Carrie) Munro, also of Brookville; and a sister, Ruth (Carl) Duttry of DuBois, Pa. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Raylene Heitzenrater and her fiancé Joe Gourley; two grandsons, Christopher Munro and Michael Armstrong; and one great-grandson, Mason James Munro.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joan Munro and a brother, Richard Munro.
Calling hours will be Sunday, July 2, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc., in Brockway, Pa. The funeral service will be on Monday, July 3, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, with Pastor Don Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Temple Cemetery at Hazen.
