Kenneth P. Arey

Mr. Kenneth P. Arey, age 71, of Wyalusing Township, passed away on Friday, March 02, 2012 at the Meadow View Senior Center in Montrose, Pa.

Ken was born Aug. 22, 1940, a son of the late Fred Thomas and Rachael Manahan Arey. He graduated from the Wyalusing Valley High School a member of the class of 1958. He married the former Barbara Anne Allen of Wyalusing on Aug. 21, 1965 and the celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary last year. Ken worked his entire life as a union carpenter. He was involved with some large projects in our area; Robert Packer Hospital, Masonite and Taylor Packing Company.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper. He loved the outdoors and especially driving his grandchildren in his golf cart around the hill at his cabin and pond. He also enjoyed making maple syrup, a tradition which is now being continued by his son.

Surviving is his spouse Barbara at home; two sons Kenneth P. Arey II of Wyalusing, Pa. and Fred T. (Carmen K.) Arey of Wyalusing, Pa.; four grandchildren Kenneth P Arey III, Bowman Dean Arey, Isaac and Katie Benjamin; brothers James (Mimi) Arey of Wyalusing, Pa., Paul (Dorcus) Arey of Tupper Lake, N.Y.; sisters Louise Ross of Meshoppen, Pa., Anna Jane (Paul) Meas of New Albany, Pa.; brother-in-law George Matlack of Broomall, Pa.; sister-in-law Mary Ann Burgess (David Jayne) of Laceyville, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters: Evelyn Matlack and Alice Armitage and two brothers Henry Arey who died in childhood and Edward Arey.

Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA 18853.
