Kenneth Edward Grannis, 85, of Chipley, Fla., formerly of Windham Township, Pa., passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 20, 2016 at the Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Fla. Kenneth was born on Oct. 5, 1931 in Nicholson, Pa., the son of Oscar Edward Grannis and Beatrice Ann Wandal Grannis.
Kenneth served with the U.S. Navy for 20 years, with some of his duty time spent aboard the aircraft carrier, John F. Kennedy. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. 
Following completion of his military service, Kenneth was employed by the Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia and subsequently by the Arnot-Ogden Hospital in Elmira, N.Y., until retirement.
He was a member of Roman Lodge No. 418 F. & A.M. and the Bradford County Shrine Club.
His family includes his wife, Ruth Louise Fernald Grannis of Chipley, Fla.; daughters, Darlene Grannis Agnew and husband James of Windham, Pa., and Debra Grannis Sloan and husband Bobby of Mustang of Oklahoma; granddaughters, Christina Agnew, Cheryl Williams and Angela (Jesse) Gowin; great-grandchildren, Jesse Lee Gowin, Daltin Matthew Gowin and Anthony Francis Williams; sister, Cora Davilla of Spokane, Wash.; brother, LeRoy Grannis of Seattle, Wash.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Erma Jean Hunsinger Grannis on Feb. 6, 2005.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa., with Pastor Richard Vieldhouse of the Orwell Bible Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 pm. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Burlington Township, Pa., with full military honors accorded. Roman Lodge No. 418 F. & A.M. will hold a service of remembrance at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Skilled Nursing Unit of Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital, 91 Hospital Drive, Towanda, PA 18848, in Kenneth's memory.
