Matthew Davis Obituary

May 29, 1990 - April 11, 2010

Matthew Lucian Davis, 19, of Anderson went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, April 11, 2010.

Family and friends will meet at the Christ United Methodist Church fellowship hall in College Station from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 15, for visitation. A memorial service is set for 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 16, at CUMC. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, at the Mooreville Cemetery in Mooreville, Texas.

Matthew was a 2009 graduate of Anderson-Shiro High School, and an employee of Kent Moore Cabinets. He was always known for his outgoing personality and genuine love for every person he came in contact with.

He will be remembered most for his passionate love for the Lord and an unshakeable faith that he carried right on his chest and spread to everyone he knew.

A long time member of Christ United Methodist Church in College Station, he found great joy giving back to the youth group and church family that encouraged his spiritual growth, by serving as a youth counselor.

He was a compassionate young man, with a pure heart and gentle spirit that left everyone he knew feeling loved and cared for.

Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jim Jack and Betty Lou Davis of Chilton, Texas; his maternal grandparents, John Derwent and Margaret Ruth Edmondson of Casper, Wyo.; and cousin, Alexis Marie Edmondson of Casper, Wyo.

He is survived by his parents, James and Catherine Davis of Anderson; his sister, Alissa Davis of Los Angeles, Calif.; brother, Guthrie Davis of Waco; sister, Morgan Davis of Waco; uncle, Robert "Bob" and wife, Mary Jane Davis of Lott, Texas; aunts, Dana Davis Torres of Golinda, Texas, Joan Rosensweig and husband, Dennis, of Casper, Wyo.; uncle, Richard Edmondson of Sheridan, Wyo., Paul and wife, Ann, Edmondson of Ft. Collins, Colo.; aunt, Mary Roberts and husband, Ken, of So. Coffeyville, Okla., and uncle, John Edmondson of Casper, Wyo.; as well as numerous cousins and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Christ United Methodist Church, Youth Group, 4203 State Hwy 6 S, College Station, TX 77845, or to Community Bible Church, Attn: Brian Smith, P.O. Box 10897, College Station, TX 77842.

James and Cathy,

As we write to you, we selfishly feel our hearts and souls are broken and sick and we are completely empty. Then, we think of your feelings and multiply that by gillions.

BUT !!!! We will see God's strength in the flesh and before our eyes when you two show and teach all of us just how broad your shoulders can be with our Father God helping to carry the load. But, no matter what, how we pray that you would never ever ever have to experience this awful, impossible, unbelievable loss.

How broken we are, but how wonderful for Matthew and his ongoing.

We love you so much,

Donnie and Suzanna Collins

Dear Cathy & James,

What a wonderful journey your Matthew took us all on. His heart was always full of love for even a stranger. The mission trips to Mexico, the new confirmed to the Youth, he was that bright shinning cowboy. I watched him grow from a boy to a God loving, caring, happy man at CUMC youth! He always had a smile on his face and a hug ready to give. When he would give me a hug, Matt would call me "mom"...course many of the youth mothers were called "mom" (right Ms Sandi & Ms Tammi). I will be forever grateful to be a part of his extended family.

I know that when Matt knocked on the door of his new home, our Jason was there to greet him. They both had beautiful smiles on their faces and after the normal "introductions", Jason asking "whatsa, whatsa whatsa your name" and Matthew saying, "Jason you know that my name is Matt", they walked through that threshold arm in arm and are now dancing with the angels together and forever.

My prayers and thoughts go to you right now....Love you guys

James,Cathy,Alissa,Guthrie and Morgan,

Words can't begin to describe how sorry I am for yall. Matt was one of a kind. Sweet, precious, generous, smart and just an all around person who many loved and adored.I have so many memories of Matt at Bob and Mary Jane's,Jr. High and H.S.football games, the after gatherings at Granny's and so many more. His laugh is something I can hear right now! He was always trying to pull something and make everyone laugh. And he always succeeded.

Although he is gone physically, he will always be in everyones heart that he touched.

Know I love yall very much!
