Lenea Sayers

Sayers, Lenea E. Age 93, passed away Nov. 13, 2010. Born in Chicago, Illinois July 12, 1917 to Charles and Elizabeth Skoglund. Lived in Port Charlotte/Gulf Cove area for 35 years. She was a homemaker, loving wife and mother. As a young mother she enjoyed sewing for her children. After attending sewing and tailoring classes at Joliet Junior College she began a small business sewing for others ladies, although she didn't charge enough to make a profit. Her other hobbies were crossword puzzles (the tougher the better) and reading. Her fondness for all types of music resulted in an extensive collection of records. Lenea was a lifetime member of the New Lenox Illinois VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Lenea had five children: Marguerite Burg (Bill), Joanne Mareno (Ray), Karen Fero (Tom), Walter Sayers Jr., and Janet Sayers. She had eight grandchildren: Mark Hamilton (Denise), Carol Ginger, Cheryle Searing (Mike), Raymond Mareno, William Mareno (Tiffany), Stephen Fero, Michael Fero (Angela), and Sacha Barnwell (Jim). She also had 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Her sister-in-law, Ruth Lenz and numerous nieces and nephews survive. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Sayers, Sr., daughter Janet, and 9 siblings. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from 2PM 8PM. Service at 7:00PM. Burial at a later date.
