Died: Jan. 25, 2016; in Elgin, IL
Lucille (Muffler) Cassingham Lucille M. Cassingham of Elgin, (formerly of Joliet), died Monday January 25, 2016, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin at the age of 90.
Mrs. Cassingham was born in Seneca, on September 9, 1925, the daughter of Herbert and Mary Muffler, and she grew up in the Morris area. While Lucille received a 4 year fully paid scholarship to St. Mary's College in Indiana, she accepted a position as the office manager with O'Brien & Sons Construction in Morris.
Lucille married Jacque C. Cassingham in Coal City on April 26, 1952. For almost 50 years, they lived in Joliet where they raised six children and were active members of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
In 2001, Lucille and Jacque moved to Elgin to be closer to their two daughters and they joined St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Lucille always enjoyed baking and reading her vast collection of cookbooks, but most important to Lucille was the time she spent with her family.
Lucille is survived by her six children, Paul, John (Terri Pickering), Joel (Sheila Arimond), Curt, Lisa, and Rene (Jason Barry); and her ten grandchildren, Ross, Douglas, Patrick, Katy, Zach, Riley, Caroline, Maddy, Audrey, and Hannah. Lucille is also survived by her two sisters, Marie (Russell) Starks of Minooka and Bernice (George) Gahm of Streator; one sister-in-law, Faye L. Cassingham; and one niece and two nephews.
Lucille is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jacque, and her parents.
Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Monday February 1, 2016, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 215 Thomas More Drive, Elgin, with the funeral mass immediately following at 11:00 A.M. Dear Cassingham Family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy on your Mothers passing. She was always such a loving person. And I always counted it a special gift that I was present at Rene's birth and then was able to watch her as well as all of you grew to adulthood at St Paul's. You are all in our prayers and thoughts as you also commend her to the Lord.
