Edith Nicholas Obituary

Nicholas, Edith A. (Ferro)

Edith A. (Ferro) Nicholas of Port Richey, Florida, formerly of Ithaca, NY was born in Cortland, NY on February 7, 1934, to Rosa (Mignano) and Alisandro Ferro. Edith was surrounded by her loving family when she peacefully left this earth on April 29, 2011, to begin her journey to Heaven. Upon retiring from Ithaca College, she and her loving husband of 43 years, Richie, re-located to Port Richey, FL from Ithaca NY where they both have enjoyed the warm weather for the past 15 years. Their beautiful home had visits from family and friends nearly everyday. She loved to cook, decorate her house, refinish furniture, golf, socialize, and watch TV. She lived life to its fullest and supported her family through the good as well as the difficult times. Edith was always there for her family with her love and generosity.

At the request of Edith, a memorial service will not be held. Instead, she wanted everyone to remember her the way she was - beautiful, fun loving, caring, full of energy and enthusiasm, tenacious, and not afraid to say what was on her mind. A day will not pass where she is not thought of and loved. Her family was her life, and she will be loved and missed forever by each and everyone of them.

Edith is survived by her husband Richard, son Larry (Janice) Hinkle, Cortland, NY, daughter Sherry Wright, Port Richey, FL, son John (Natalie) Nicholas, Ithaca, NY, sister Lucy Lella, Cortland NY, grandchildren Michelle Watkins, Timothy Wright, Randy Hinkle, Cortland, NY, Alecia and Dominic Nicholas, Ithaca, NY, and a great grandchild, Josh Watkins, Cortland NY. She also had three step children, Rick (Stevie) Nicholas, VA, Joe Nicholas, Cortland NY and Pam (George) Arsenault, Ithaca, NY. Also surviving are several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
