Mr. Scudder was my music teacher at Austin Peay, I was a very non traditional student. Worked full time, married, a daughter that I coached her softball team, there was always something that come up that I couldn't go to class, he wanted me to succeed so much he called me at work to let me know I could do my class online like he would let his deployed students because he Didnt want me to quit and withdrawal. He won me over that day. I will NEVER FORGET this sweet man! I hope my story comforts those that needs it the most, he went above and beyond on so many levels,he will be greatly missed.

After reading all these sweet and wonderful comments written about you Howard, I would hope everyone who reads them knows of the impact you had on so many lives. We played wedding after wedding together and he blew Purcell until he could blow NO MORE.. What a FINE person, Fine Musician, and great friend. We are fortunate to have had him pass thru our lives. Hand out roses to those who have meant so much to the events in your life while they can still hear them. I am so sorry for this loss and pray for comfort and good to come in the days ahead

Mr. Scudder was my high school band teacher my junior year. He believed in my talent for music & recommended that I go to Belmont University to continue my music education. He wrote me a great reference letter to Belmont my senior year, even though he was no longer my teacher. After over 20 years in the music industry, I owe most of it to this mans belief in my talent. He will be greatly missed & I am so sorry for the families loss.

Condolences to the Scudder family. Scud and I were college room mates and good friends. We drifted apart but reconnected last year. You will be missed my friend. Every time I heard or hear a trumpet, I think of you.

I had the pleasure and blessing of having him as a music teacher at Glenellen. He was such a shining light and he definitely had a passion for music. Fly high, sweet angel.

Howard was a dear friend and mentor when I was a student at APSU. He and Shane were my suite mates my first year and really kept me sane. I worked with Howard a lot, and I have rarely met anyone so kind and generous of spirit - at all times.
My heart goes out to Howard's family and friends at this difficult time. Very Sincerely, Ken Lee

Mr Scudder was my Band Director my sophomore year of High School and I believe his wife was my third grade teacher. Mr. Scudder was a spit fire. Always made me laugh. He will be missed
