NELMA S. BRACKIN, 94 GTE Operator LAKELAND - Nelma Scarborough Brackin, 94, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015, of natural causes. She was born in Spring Field, Tennessee, on August 30, 1920, to George Riggs Scarborough and Amy Hilliard Scarborough. They came to Lakeland in 1920 and lived here all her life. Nelma retired from GTE after 32 years. She was a Methodist. Nelma is preceded in death by her husband Cloyd Bert Brackin, her parents, and 2 sisters Jewel Smith, Mareitta Parsons and 1 brother Vernon Scarborough. BRUCE, NOMA D.  
NOMA D. BRUCE, 89 LAKELAND - Noma D. Bruce, 89, of 809 Stratford Dr., died Saturday, May 2, 2015, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born in Princeton, W. VA., August 31, 1925, she was the daughter of J.R. and Thelma Rorrer Lovell. She and her husband, Bob, had retired to Lakeland in 1993 from Masury, OH, after being 'snow birds' to the area for several years. The couple have been members of the Imperial Lakes Country Club where she had been an avid golfer and bridge player. Noma was an RN in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps in WWII. She was a faithful member of the Scott Lake Baptist Church where she had been a member of the senior choir. Noma was known for her friendliness and class by those who knew her. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert V. Bruce and her son, Dr. Scott R. Bruce. Survivors include her sister, Pattye L. McNutt and daughters, Donna Gail Spencer of Bardstown, KY and Karen D. Johnson 'Klovers' and her husband, Jim E. Johnson of Belmont, NC, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. As per her wishes, no services will be held. In her memory, in lieu of flowers, or a monetary contribution, enjoy a picnic with your family or friends, as this was one of her favorite things to do. She will certainly be missed by her loving family, many friends and neighbors.

SUZANNE PAINTER CREWS, 64 Florida Hospital FORT MEADE - Mrs. Suzanne Painter Crews, 64, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015, at her home in Fort Meade, FL. Mrs. Crews was born January 31, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in nursing (RN, BSN). She was a registered nurse at the Florida Hospital, Heartland Division, where she was the Coordinator for the Faith Community Nursing Program (IPNRC). She was an Army veteran and also served as a missionary for the International Mission Board (SBC) in Tanzania, Africa, with her husband from 1986-1998. She also taught school in the Polk County school system from 1998-2007. Mrs. Crews was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Painter, Sr. and sister, Mary A. Painter. She is survived by her husband, Dr. John E. Crews, Fort Meade; sons, Joel Matthew Crews, Orlando, FL, and Jeffery David Crews, Fort Meade; daughters, Melinda Beth Gill and husband, Jerred, Branson, MO, and Lisa Michelle Crews, Fort Meade; mother, Millicent Painter, Brandon, FL; brothers, Ralph D. Painter, Jr. and wife, Genevieve, Brandon, FL, John F. Painter and wife, Donna, Oviedo, FL, James E. Painter and wife, Beth, Tampa, FL; sisters, Louise A. Albritton and husband, Vinson, Whittier, NC, Martha Painter, Seffner, FL, and three grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at the Hancock Funeral Home Chapel, 945 East Broadway, Fort Meade, FL. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church at the Mall with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Goodell officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Florida Baptist Children's Homes, P.O. Box 8190, Lakeland, FL, 33802-9963. JOHANNA FAY JORDAN, 87 Laboratory Technician LAKELAND - Johanna Fay Jordan, nee Potts, 87, passed away May 2, 2015. She was born in Indiana and moved to Lakeland in 1993 from Indianapolis. Mrs. Jordan was a Medical Lab Technician working for a group of doctors in Indianapolis for over 40 years. She sang in the choir and served on the board at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lakeland. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Poe, St. Petersburg, FL; sons James Jordan, Worcester, MA, Samuel (Yoko) Jordan, Cardiff By The Sea, CA; grandchildren Zachary Jordan, Chelsea Poe and Michael Poe. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home at Serenity Gardens with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at 1:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery.

KRUEGER, ERIC WAYNE - St. Petersburg  
ERIC WAYNE KRUEGER, 53 CLEARWATER - Eric Wayne Krueger, 53, entered into rest peacefully in his home in Clearwater on May 2, 2015. Born March 3, 1962, in Detroit to Dorothy and Ame Krueger, Eric graduated from Winter Haven High in 1980 and from the University of South Florida in 1988 with a degree in Marketing. He moved to the Tampa Bay area in the 1980s where he worked in the Hospitality Industry and Professional Sales. A lover of all things outdoors: hunting, fishing, sailing, disc golf, beach volleyball, snowmobiling, and skiing, Eric shared his boat, his catch, and his excellent cooking with his many friends and his loving family. Eric is survived by his wife, Janet (Castner) Krueger; his parents, Ame and Dorothy Krueger; his children Paula-Bianca Montealegre Krueger and Austin-Nash M. Krueger; his siblings: Amy Jo Krueger Lippe, Dennis Krueger (Linda), and Holly Krueger Togneri (Joe), and a large extended family. His Memorial Service will be held May 9th with gathering and visiting with family and friends to begin at 11am followed by the service at 12 pm at Hubbell Funeral Home, 499 Indian Rocks Road North, Belleair Bluffs, 33770, (727-584-7671).
