BARTOW - Elsie May Brown, 90, of Bartow passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the Bartow Center from natural causes.
Born in Stockton, CA, she has been a resident of Bartow since 1949 moving from Fort Meade. She was a homemaker and a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Bartow. Elsie enjoyed writing poems and was a loving wife and mother and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by husband of sixty years in 2007 Allen Brown. Elsie is survived by her daughter, Elaine Brown of Bartow; niece Evonne McCarty, nephew Criss Crawford both of Stockton, CA; two sisters-in-law Edna Floy Vas of Bartow, Louise McCoy of Duluth, GA; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Saturday, June 4th from 1-1:30pm at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow with services starting at 1:30pm. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Florida United Methodist Children's Home, PO Box 6299 Deltona, FL 32728 or the Asbury United Methodist Church, 1650 South Jackson Ave., Bartow, FL 33830.
